METX F40C #611
Title:  METX F40C #611
Description:  Veteran F40C #611 lays over with a commuter train on a Saturday afternoon on the north side of CUS. Originally built in the early 1970's for the Northwest Suburban Mass Transportation District (13) and the North Suburban Mass Transit District (2). They were assigned to Milwaukee Road commuter lines (along with 7 HEP equipped E and F units) and wore MILW heralds on their cab sides, being that MILW was the operator. The RTA leased them from NSMT and NWSMT and then sub-leased them to the Milwaukee Road. MILW was responsible for maintaining them as well. NSMT and NWSMT later merged to form Metra, and the F40C's continued working until a few years ago when they were retired. A few years ago, 2 of the F40C's (614 and 611) were reactivated to fill in as the F40PH fleet was sent out to Progress Rail to be rebuilt a couple of units at a time.
